Asphalt Paving
Paved asphalt surfaces are designed to provide all-weather use.
The aesthetics of any property are enhanced by the clean, smooth look of professionally constructed pavement. Other benefits include enhanced safety because tripping hazards are minimized, improved dust control, and reduced maintenance time.
Asphalt paving falls into two categories:
New construction and repair of existing asphalt.
►Remove and Replace
►Mill and Overlay
►Patching
►New Construction

Crack Sealer
Crack sealer is an elastic material designed to seal joints and cracks against this moisture infiltration into the subgrade. Subgrade moisture is one of the leading causes of pavement failure, so it is essential that asphalt cracking is attended to promptly in order to extend the life of the pavement and save money long-term. Typically, we recommend filling cracks and joints 1/4 inch or wide or greater.
The crack is first cleaned using an air compressor with a hose and tube to blow out dust and debris with a high-pressure stream of air. Then, the crack sealer is either injected into the crack with a pressurized wand or poured in at a temperature of roughly 300 degrees Fahrenheit. This extreme heat causes the sides of the asphalt in the crack to melt and form a much stronger bond with the crack sealer upon cooling. Due to its high elasticity, crack sealer will have the ability to expand and contract with the thermal movements of the crack. Also, because of its high melting point, it will not track or pick up with traffic.

Seal Coating
Seal coating is designed to protect asphalt pavements from the damaging effects of the environment, including moisture and ultraviolet oxidation. Protecting pavement with seal coating has basically the same effect as using sunblock on your skin or varnish on wood – it slows the destructive effects of the weather. Seal coating also minimizes raveling (the loss of aggregate) and fills minor voids on the surface. Other benefits include creating a uniform color and appearance for all paved asphalt surfaces and increasing the visibility of curbing. Seal coating and restriping of parking spaces and crosswalks improve traffic flow and enhance public safety.
Frequency of Seal Coating
To reduce long-term maintenance expenses, industry experts recommend that pavement be seal-coated every two to five years, depending on traffic and overall condition. Pavements that exhibit extensive cracking, base failure or severe surface raveling will not significantly benefit from seal coating. Also, seal coat tends not to adhere well to areas saturated with oil, so such areas must be treated with an oil spot primer to aid adhesion. Sealer can be applied by either squeegee or spray methods. The spray method is recommended for smooth pavement, whereas rough, porous surfaces are better serviced by the squeegee method with its thicker application. Normal curing time is 24 hours for moderate temperature and humidity conditions.

Parking Lot Striping
Parking lot striping is one of the simplest yet important services 1 Stop Paving provides. Clearly marked stalls, handicap spaces and directional arrows all make for a more efficient and problem-free parking lot, and they are critical elements in maximizing parking lot space and smoothing the flow of lot traffic. Ensuring that the striping is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act also lowers owner liability.
1 Stop Paving uses both an oil-based paint and a water-based paint depending on the season. The water-based paint dries relatively quickly, usually within five to 10 minutes of application, while the oil-based paint takes around 15 to 20 minutes to dry.
At 1 Stop Paving, we begin by making sure that the surface on which the markings will be placed is free of moisture, dust and debris. The presence of any of these will cause the paint to lose its adhesive properties prematurely and flake. The paint is then applied with particular attention paid to both the thickness of the paint and the width of the stripe so that precise and uniform lines result.

Concrete
1 Stop Paving can also meet your concrete needs.
From new installation of curbs, gutters and sidewalks, to repair of existing facilities, we are available to address any needs you may have.
Concrete curbs can be either cast in place or extruded. The latter is placed on top of the asphalt after paving is completed. While not as durable as cast-in-place concrete, extruded curbing is very cost-effective, especially when adding curbing to existing parking lots.
►Sidewalks
Sidewalks are most often constructed of concrete, primarily for its ability to maintain a straight, rigid edge. Although sometimes used in applications such as golf courses, asphalt sidewalks are usually impractical to install.
►Driveway Approaches
Driveway approaches are the pathways between parking lots and streets. While appearing to be little more than a sidewalk with the curb removed, approaches are significant concrete structures that are designed to withstand considerable traffic.
